THE FAST
CANANDAIGUA SPEEDWAY UP NEXT
Move
over Ransomville and step aside Black Rock, Saturday
nights July 26th race at the Canandaigua Speedway will
probably put up some of the fastest speedway ever by the
Winged Warriors of the NYMM Series. The large ½ mile track
has been known as one of the fastest ½ mile tracks around
to the ASCS Patriots and should be no exception to the 600
modified midgets Saturday night. While fast and furious,
the track leaves lots of room for drivers to easily
maneuver through traffic. Jack Deery and his crew at the
Canandaigua Speedway have done an excellent job smoothing
out the ½ mile monster. The race also concludes the 2008
Ontario County Fair. Get there early and enjoy the sights,
sounds and tastes of one of New York’s premier County
Fairs! For more information visit the Canandaigua website
at
www.canandaiguiaspeedway.com. Racing is scheduled to
start at 7:00pm sharp with gates opening at 4:00pm
NYMM
ADDED TO THUNDER MOUNTAIN FALL BALL
With
Black Rock Speedway deciding to pull the plug this
year on their annual Columbus Weekend show, the NYMM
Series has been looking for a another track to call
home for the annual Winged Weekend. Dick Stark and the
staff at the Thunder Mountain Raceway sent the NYMM
Series an invitation this past week to join the
Thunder Mountain Fall Ball Weekend being held
October 17th and 18th at the
Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, NY.
Friday night will
be a special $350 to win wingless event.
Based off of 30 cars the event will pay at least $75
to take the green. With a 24 car field, the race will
still pay at least $50 to take the green. The 20 lap
A-Main event will put driver’s endurance to the
extreme test. Driver ability and set up will be key to
taking home the checkered flag at Friday night’s
event.
The wings come
back on for Saturday nights 25 lap $500
to win A-Main event. The A-Main event will also pay
back at least $50 to take the green in the final NYMM
Series event of 2008. We will crown the 2008 NYMM
Series Champion Saturday night at the Thunder Mountain
Speedway.
The best part
about the weekend is that drivers, crew, and fans are
welcome to hook up the camper, pop up the tent, and
roll out the sleeping bags as Dick Stark will open his
pits and allow camping all weekend at the Thunder
Mountain Speedway free of charge.
Drivers have always had a great time with the
overnight accommodation and fun in the pits. Thunder
Mountain Raceway is still trying to finalize who will
be attending the event, but it is sure to be a great
weekend of fun for the family.
LAFLER WINS TICKET INTO ESMM INVITATIONAL
Jim
Lafler has won a lot of races down at the Starlite
Speedway over the years, but Friday night’s win could
be one of the most important wins for the veteran
driver. With the win, Lafler joins Nick Cooper, Ryan
Jordan, and Jim Radney with the first 4 guaranteed
spots into the $1,500 to win Empire State Modified
Midget Invitational Championship September 6th
at the Genesee Speedway. Lafler was running 2nd
behind then leader Dalton Herrick until Herrick’s #36
machine had to be brought to the pits with car
problems. Lafler would have to hold off Ryan Jordan
(#22) and Zack Morgan (#7) on two late restarts
including a green-white-checkered dash to finish the
30 lap event.
We would like to
thank everyone for coming out and supporting the
Starlite Speedway, and for the Starlite Speedway for
giving us the opportunity to run Friday night. It was
a very nice surface which allowed for some of the best
racing all season long.
